Police officers have been arrested after they chased a toddler in a stolen car with a caregiver in the passenger seat.
Police said on Thursday that Officer Ryan M. DeAngelo was arrested and charged with child endangerment, a third-degree felony.
DeAngelo has been with the police department for three years.
DeMarco, a 29-year-old father of two, is a police officer from the Northside police department.
The police department said in a statement that the department is “disappointed” in DeMarco and is “aware of the circumstances that led to the arrest.”
The officer was also placed on administrative leave, according to the department.
The toddler, whose name was not released, was transported to the hospital and released on Thursday evening.
DeAngelis wife and the child’s father, James DeAngelis, were not immediately available for comment.
DeMarco was hired in August of 2017 and joined the Northshore police department in July 2018.
