Posted November 02, 2018 11:50:18The new car that is being introduced by Nio Motors in NSW has an electric motor and an all-wheel drive system.
Nio Motors chief executive officer Chris Anderson said the car was a first for NSW and it had been designed to be “sustainable”.
He said the company was working with the government to determine the best use of the new technology and was working closely with the NSW Government to ensure the technology was deployed in a safe way.
“We want to ensure this car is sustainable,” he said.
“When we get the green light, we will then start building it in NSW.”
He said that when the car is on the road, it would have an electric engine that drives the wheels.
“This will be the only vehicle on the NSW road that has this system and that will make it more eco-friendly,” Mr Anderson said.
He said while the car had a battery that would last for about 40,000 kilometres, it was designed to have a maximum life of about 150,000.
“There will be no carbon footprint,” he added.
“It is a lot of energy.”
What we’ve tried to do is get this car on the roads and make sure it’s used for the right purpose.
“Nio has been working with NSW to develop the new electric car for a number of years.”
In the first year, we delivered two of the first-ever electric cars to the state,” Mr Nash said.
